Pixel Fonts - Adult Website Design Tutorial

When I first started designing I noticed that most fonts work fine at large and medium sizes but when you get into the smaller sizes the fonts become blurry and just plain ugly. When I looked at more advanced designers work I was puzzled as to how they got their small text so clear and sharp. Then I discovered this website and I finally understood that they were using pixel fonts. Here is an example Fig01 is 'Arial' at a font size of '8' and Fig02 is '04b_11' at a font size of '8'...Spot the difference?	Fig01. Fig02.
Fig02 is clear sharp white text but Fig01 is almost a light grey and looks kinda blurry. There is a little more work involved with using pixel fonts but the results are far worth it, I believe using pixel fonts will just about give any design that professional look and feel. If you don't like the style of '04b_11' there are thousands of different pixels fonts on the web its just a matter of knowing how to use them which I will show you in this tutorial. 1. Download the pixel font 'Silkscreen' and unzip and install the font to your computer.(Sorry to the Mac people this is the PC version of Silkscreen)
2. Create a new canvas 400x200 canvas and make sure you have Resolution on 72 pixels/inch. Fill the canvas with black.
3. Make a new layer and click the type tool and type some text onto the canvas
4. Make sure you have the font layer selected and click the arrow in the upper right hand corner of the 'Character' window and click 'Reset Character'. If the 'Character' window isn't visible click Window - Show Character. Change the font color to white. Any font effects such as faux bold & faux italic will ruin pixel fonts.
5. Change the font to 'Silkscreen' and give it a font size of '8'. Turn 'Anti-alising' to none.
