2. Hold down the <CTRL> key on your keyboard and then click on the Text layer in the Layers window. This should form a selection around your letter. |
| 3. Create a new layer above the text layer and do the following: Go to the menu SELECT >> MODIFY >> CONTRACT and contract the selection by about 5 pixels. Then go to SELECT >> FEATHER and use a setting of 5 pixels again. | |
4. Fill your new selection with a lighter-paler red. |

| 7. Now I want you to hold down the <CTRL> key on your keyboard and then click on the Text layer in the Layers window. This should form a selection around your letter again. | |
8. Create a new layer UNDERNEATH the text layer and fill it with black. Get rid of your selection and then Go to FILTER >> BLUR >> GAUSSIAN BLUR, and use a value of 3 pixels. Click ok and this should create a Black ghost around your letter.

| 9. Right click your original Text layer and go to the Effects menu. Create a DROP SHADOW for your text and then click OK. | |
This technique can be used with any type of image or heading. Simply resize it and it looks very striking! Don't forget to try this with different colors and shades. |
