Frost & Cold Text

Frosted & Cold Text Effect
Programs Used: Photoshop 6
Skill Level: Basic

Create a canvas of 400x400 with a dpi of 72.

Choose a simple font for the Frosted cold effect and add in some simple text . Make sure you choose an appropriate color to go with the text. Once this is done, rasterize the layer.

Add noise to the text by choosing FILTERS>NOISE. Set amount to 50% and have Gaussian and Monochromatic selected.

Next choose the crystallize filter. FILTERS>PIXELATE>CRYSTALLIZE this creates a simple pattern over the text of various blues.

Now add a gaussian blur over the text by selecting it from the filters menu. FILTERS>BLUR>GAUSSIAN BLUR Have it set on to 1 pixel and click OK

At this point duplicate the layer and work off the top most duplicate layer. This is a backing for the next effect.

Rotate the canvas Clockwise by 90 degrees. IMAGE>ROTATE CANVAS. Once making sure that you have selected the top most layer, select the Wind Filter. FILTERS>STYLIZE>WIND. Using the default settings should be fine.

Rotate the canvas back to the original position and your done.
