Blocky Text Programs Used: Photoshop 6 Skill Level: Basic
I recently had to design a logo and was looking for a different
style to the normal photoshop fonts. I found that this particular design
was eye catching and had something different which made the logo stand out
better.
1. Create a canvas 150x150 pixels.
2. Using the ROUNDED RECTANGLE tool
draw a rectangle in blue as shown below.
3. Now select the LASSO tool
and make a selection as shown.
4. Press delete to detete the selected area and repeat step 3 for the
other side of the rectangle and delete that selection.
5. Go to the menu bar located at the top and click LAYER and LAYER PROPERTIES.
Click BEVEL AND EMBOSS and CONTOUR, set the bevel SIZE to 16 pixels and
set SOFTEN to 7 pixels.
6. Create a new layer and using the TYPE tool
type in one character.
7. Position the character using the MOVE tool
so that it is in the middle of the cutout rectangle.
8. Press CTR + left click the layer with the character to obtain a perfect
selection..
9. Click the layer with the blue box and press delete to delete the character
shape from the box.
There you have it! Experiment with different shapes and angles
to maximise the effect.
