Making "Aliens" Glow Text Programs Used: Photoshop 6 Skill Level: Basic
1. Create a new canvas.
2. Click on the Type Tools .
Choose the type of font that you wish to use by simply clicking on to the
arrow which is pointing down and scroll through the text.
3. Choose the fonts that you want. In this example I am going to use
"Impact" and type in the text.
4. Create a new layer under the text layer.
5. Hold down <Ctrl> and right click the text layer to make a selection
of the text. Then click on the new layer and Select <Feather.... I will
select a 5 pixels radius.
6. Set Foreground or Background colour to a dark green colour.
To fill in the colour simply go to Edit<Fill... Foreground or Background
colour depending on the where you set the colour from. Or to fill by short
cut simply by holding down <Ctrl> and press <Delete> for Background
and hold down <Alt> and press <Delete> for Foreground colour.
7. Create a new layer under the text and above the filled layer.
8. Follow step "5 & 6" but Change the following settings.
- Feather it by 3 pixels.
- Choose the lighter green colour
And fill it like so:
9. Create a new layer in between the text and the layer created in step
7.
10. Follow step "5 & 6" but change the following settings.
- Feather it by 2 pixels.
- Choose a lighter green colour.
And fill it like so:
11. Now follow the step "5 & 6" and reduce the Feathering
by 1 pixel, and white colour.
12. Now you can play around with the effect and background colour.
