Creating A Wooden Finish
|
|
| In this week's tutorial I am going to show you exactly how to create a Wooden effect that I think looks really good as a heading for a site. | |
| 1. Open Photoshop | |
| 2. Choose a "wooden" colour (basically any range of brown or red) and
fill the background with this colour

| 3. Go to the Filter menu and click on NOISE > ADD NOISE. The amount of noise should be set to around 80 and make sure that Distribution is set to "Uniform" and that "Monochromatic" is ticked. | ![]() |
| 4. Go to the Filter Menu and click on BLUR > MOTION BLUR. The Angle is best set to 0 and the distance to 10 pixels, but you may need to play around with these (I recommend it). | ![]() |
| 5. Cut out an irregular slice with the Lasso Tool |

| 6. Keep chiselling out slivers of the edges with the Lasso tool |

| 7. We have finished it off with an Outer Bevel on the wood area, and orange colored text also with an Outer Bevel to make it look inlayed. | ![]() |
| Enjoy! | |
