In this tutorial you will be introduced to the
"Liquify tool" to show you how to make a very simple but subtle
change to enhance a picture.
1. This is the original image of a potrait of a lovely model.
She doesn't look too happy there; a smile would make her look soooo much
better!
2. First of all, duplicate the layer; the duplicated layer is the image
we want to modify. In this instance, we want the girl's smile to be brighter
without making her look like some sort of alien, which fortunately is
easy to do with the Liquify tool.
3. Activate the Liquifing window (Image>Liquify menu or Shift+Ctrl+X).
There are quite a few tools here, but the easiest tool to use (and the one
you'll probably use the most often) is the Warp tool (top left). Set the
Brush Size to 10 and Pressure to 30.
3. Begin with one side of the mouth by lifting the corner up slightly. Then
apply the same method on to the other side of the mouth. Try not to overdo
the warping. You'll be surprised at how light, smaller strokes can be used
to make a lot of difference.
4. It's actually trickier than it looks to make these small adjustments.
It takes a while to achieve the desired look, and if you're happy with your
results then click OK. Otherwise, continue with the small strokes to make
your subtle changes.
5. Now use the same technique to reshape her cheeks, eyebrows
and maybe the eyes. You may change the brush size and pressure if you need.
6. This is what i came up with. I went for a more saucy smile.
