Detailed Patterns
|
|
| These very efficient patterns are easy to make and/or looks good, fills the spaces well, and sometimes are great backgrounds. | |
|
But first we have to define these patterns. This is how we do it. |

| 2. To define the pattern we go to EDIT>DEFINE PATTERN... Then name it 6x6 grid. | |
| 3. Repeat the first 2 step again but this time with a different pattern.
Something like this one. I named this one 6x6 check. |

4. Now create a new canvas doesn't matter what size it is, but I created a 600x400 canvas. |
|
| 5. Fill it with any color or gradient. Mine looks like this. | ![]() |
| 6. Create another layer, then press Shift + Backspace. You should come up a dialog called 'Fill' or go to EDIT>FILL... From the 'Use:' popup menu select Pattern. | ![]() |
| 7.Select the 6x6 grid you just previously made. Click OK or ENTER. | ![]() |
| 8. Repeat step 7 for the 6x6 check pattern. You should then have something like this. | ![]() |
| 9. Set the layer with the 6x6 grid pattern on it and set its blending mode to Overlay and opacity 20%. Repeat this to the layer with the 6x6 check pattern on it. Should have something like this. You can also play around with its color if you wish. | ![]() |
|
There you go! A detailed pattern that can be used on any background and any picture. Of course you can create any type of pattern with this method and apply it to any picture or background. And I'm pretty sure you can find other uses for it too. |
