Creating a Cresent Shape Design

Just by using some simple techniques you can design a great cresent shape effect.

1. Create a new canvas and select the elipse tool, highlighted in yellow and select the desired colour you wish to fill your ellipse with, highlighted in blue..

2. Draw the desired size of your ellispe.

3. Now we want to select the ellipse. This is done by holding down CTR + right click the layer in with the ellispe is located.

4. Once the ellipse is selected create a new layer and using the move tool, highlighted in yellow, move the ellipse marquee to the desired location.

5. Go back to the previous layer now and go to the menu select and feather.

and set the feather radius to 10 for example.

6. Press backspace to get rid of the existing area of the ellipse that you dont want. The feather creates a nice blend into the background.

7. To create a more interesting effect double click the layer in which the ellispe is located and add drop shadow and beval and emboss.

The drop shadow effect as shown below.

8. The finished product.

You may want to experiment with adding in some noise to create a rougher effect.
