Making A Transparent Button
Programs Used: Photoshop 6
Skill Level: Basic
|
| 1) Create a canvas 100x100. Make sure that snap-to-grid is
on. To do this, go into the main menu option "View" then tick
Snap to grid. |
| 2) Create a new layer |
| 3) Use the ellipse tool while holding the SHIFT key to create a circle. |
 |
| 4) Add another circle horizontal to the first. |
 |
| 5) Next use the rectangle tool to join the centres of the circles together
and fill it with a gradient. |

 |
| 6) Select the shape by holding CTRL and clicking on the layer. Contract
the image by a few pixel (Eg 3) and delete the centre of the image. |
 |
| 7) Now create a new layer and fill the centre of the image
in with a lighter colour and lower the opacity to about 30%. |
| 8) Go back to the first layer and add some effects to the shape of the
border. Add in Bevel and Emboss, and Contour. |
 |
| |
Done... the centre of the button is transparent allowing
background images to come through. Add some text in the centre with a few
effects to finish off the button.
