Creating a Starburst
Skill level: Basic
Programs used: Photoshop 6
|
| This tutorial will show you how to make a starburst for censorship. |
| 1. Create a new canvas 100x100 pixels at 72 pixels/inch resolution. |
| 2. Fill the canvas in black. |
3. Next select the line tool (shortcut
key "u"), change the foreground color to white. |
4. Create a new layer
and draw 2 diagonal lines as shown below |
 |
5. Using the Ellipitical Marquee Tool (shortcut
key "m") create a circular selection as shown. |
 |
| 6. Next go to SELECT>FEATHER and set the feather to 10 pixels. Inverse
the selected section. This is done by selecting SELECT>INVERSE. Once
the selection has been inverted press delete. By now you should have the
points of the starburst complete. |
 |
| 7. Deselect the selection by pressing Ctrl + D. Now create another circular
selection as shown below. |
 |
| 8. Now feather the selection by 7-8 pixels and create a new layer. Fill
this layer in with white and there you have it, your very own censorship
starburst. |
 |
| For the purpose of this exercise I censored the bellybutton
and tongue of the two images below. To create this star effect I used the
combination of white, yellow and orange. |
